Document libraries can contain folders as well as files. Just as you can set permissions for a document, you can set permissions at the folder level. For example, you might want to restrict access to a folder containing sensitive financial data.
- Log into your SharePoint site, e.g., yourdomain.sharesrvr.com.
- Navigate to a page with a Shared Documents section.
- On the Quick Launch bar, click the Shared Documents link.
- Click the New drop-down menu, and select New Folder.
- In the Name box, enter a name for the new folder, and then click the OK button. You can add documents to the folder the same way you add them to a top-level content library.
